Our first sponsored school is Evangelical Model Primary School. The Primary School is located in Rotifunk, Moyamba District of Sierra-Leone. There are currently 296 students enrolled with 176 females and 120 males. Mohamed Lamin Sesay is the current head master of the school.
History of Evangelical Model Primary SchoolThe Sierra Leone Civil War resulted in the destruction of 3 primary schools in Rotifunk between 1995 to 2000. In 2001, 67% of all school-aged children were out of school due to the war. The Saima Community formulated a letter to the Evangelical mission in 2007 to assist in establishing a primary school in their community. The local mission was constrained with funds to construct a building, so the community worked together in constructing a cain stick makeshift school in 2008 to salvage the situation. In September 9, 2008, the school was officially opened and named the Evangelical Model Primary School of Rotifunk. The school catered and continues to cater to the educational needs of the children within the Rotifunk community. Due to the opening of the school, student enrollment doubled and education is improving while accommodating the increasing numbers of students. How can you help?
